Free t3/t4 needed?

I just received my thyroid result for TSH.
April 22 2010-TSH  2.82   miu/l (0.45 - 4.5)
is this normal? should i take free T4 and T3 tests to make sure whether im normal or not?

Your TSH is on the high side of normal, so yes, you should get FT3 and FT4.  Whenever you are getting thyroid tests, you need to get the actual thyroid hormones (FT3 and FT4) tested.  TSH is a pituitary hormone and can vary widely over the course of the day.

sherrie091010 - you should always have the FT3 and FT4 tests done when investigating thyroid issues.  Your TSH is good, but without knowing what your FT3 and FT4 are, there is no way to know what your thyroid is actually doing. It's possible that with TSH of 1.67 your thyroid hormones are higher than you need them.

I have no idea, but am wondering the same.  I just got my TSH today and it is 1.67 which my doc says is normal.  He said before the test that I didn't need any of the other tests,  He is convinced my problem is not thyroid, but has no idea what is wrong.  Symptoms - excessive sweating, fatigue, poor sleeping, tingling hands in morning, dizzy upon arising (usually just after lying down), pains here and there, and I do have osteoarthritis.  I also have IBS and other digestive issues.  Now I'm not sure what to think if thyroid is ruled out.  Any suggestions?  At this point the being hot and the excessive sweating are really driving me crazy.  I start to sweat at the most minor exertion, get really hot, the sweat just pours from all over my body and then I feel exhausted and can't get cooled off.  HELP!!!
