Goiter and Mental Health

Dear Sir

I would like to know the relation between Goiter and mental health.

The reason being is that my mum has a lump on her neck for quite some time now. Her mental health has been deteriorating over the years and we had to take her to the mental hospital (St Giles) here in Fiji. All they are doing is treating for depression however upon question by the doctor she replies nothing worries her or she is not depressed. I have heard that goiter has some effect on mental health.

Please if you could tell me to what extent does goiter have an effect on mental health and what steps should I take to stop her mental health from deteriorating. I would be very grateful to you.

Thanks for your response..My mom has a lump that is protruding out..and I don't think she has been tested for thyroid disorder...

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to read, your mom is not feeling well.  Does your mom have a lump on her neck or in her neck, protuding out ?  

Has your mom been tested for thyroid disorder ??
