Lobectomy for Hyperthyroidism

Can a hyperthyroid person who gets a lebectomy, ever have recurring hyperthyroidsm?

Hi,

Yes you can get recurring hyperthyroid if the remaining thyroid tissue becomes abnormal.

However, if they can locate the source of the hyper and it is clearly localised they may choose just to remove the abnormal part.  if the rest of the thyroid is still working normally, this will avoid needing to go on meds.

Have you ever been tested for Graves Dosease?

Sometimes the antibodies can fire up the remaining lobe.
If you havent been tested...ask for the TSI antibody test to be done.
