Graves/ Hyperthyroidism and Chronic Insomnia

Since relapsing on May 8th, 2014, I have not been able to sleep for more than 1-2 hours a night. When hospitalized, I was about to be put in the mental ward because of it. Luckily, my husband disapproved. Before this, I would sleep 8-9 hours. I am seeing a psychologist and now a psychiatrist as the psychologist says this is a manifestation of depression. I would do anything to be able to sleep. Any advice on coping with this? I have lost my job as a result and cannot function properly. Please help and thank you kindly.

Not sure about brands in other countries except for Life Extension (US company which I've ordered from before).

Thanks for your response, Red Star. I will give it a try.

My endo and psychiatrist recommended melatonin, so I purchased it anyway. Now listen to this, aside from all the upset stomach issues I've been having since being put on 350 mg of PTU, the shrink suggested I take 300 mg of Trazadone. These are huge tablets, I tried taking one and woke up the following day with the worst stomach ache. Before relapse, I was on 15 mg of PTU, looking for a natural remedy. Obviously, that failed.

Anti thyroid medication and magnesium supplements (not magnesium oxide as that doesn't absorb well).

Perhaps the initial question I should have asked is as follows: have any of you experienced this severe form of insomnia and if so, how did you cope? I recently had a psychiatrist prescribe Trazadone to no avail. Nothing helps me and I'm close to losing my rental apartment.

Please, any suggestions on ways to cope??

The insomnia is due to too much thyroid hormone. None of the doctors figured that out yet? Sheesh.
