Graves Disease or Thyroiditis.

Dear Dr,
I am writng to you with questions related to my current illness. I am a 36 yr old male, with a past history of - Sept 94 - ? aseptic meningitis or ? meningoencephalopathy ( unexplained neuro illness lasted 2 -3 yrs ) was euthyroid on admission to hosp in 94. Only test that was positive was the ENG ( problem between eye and brain ) July 98- 1 episode of atrial fibrilation. Current illness started Oct 06 with a viral illness, subsequent symptoms on the last 1.5 yrs - Symptoms vary in intensity and duration, but they are as follows - heavy tiredness, muscle weakness, balance probs, anxiety, palpatations, muscle aches, joint pain, occassional strange explosions in my head ( feel like a split second stroke ), tingling sensations in my face and numbness in my hands, muscle twitches and cramps, hard to get up in the am, migraine headches, involuntary jerks, ? depression and seem to have CNS medication sensitivities. Also have had constant chest infection - pneumonia, and pleural effusion.
Med tests - prior to 08, SPECT Scan of the brain showed mild cerebral hyoperfusion post - cognitive challenge, tests post Feb 08 - TPO antibodies raised, but euthyroid. Was tried on a T3/T4 extract - caused major issues with activation symtoms. Was then tried on Lugols solution 3 drops daily. In June 08, t3 - 13, t4 37, TSH - 0.01, TPO 1500,
Thyroglobulin anti-body raised aswell, TSH antibody negative, thyroid ultrasound 3 small nodules, and sub -acute phase of thyroiditis ( Endo said nodules not of consequence ).
My question is Graves Disease ? Thyroiditis ? or is it possible that the neurosymptoms are related to raised TPO ?
Thanks Ganno.

Hi .. yes, Rite760 suggested maybe Dr. Lupo can help you ..

I don't have enough experience, either.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that there isn't a doctor on this forum, you need to go to the expert doctors forum for thyroid and ask the question to Dr. Lupo. However, I'm sure the very experienced people on this forum will also be able to help you too. Unfortunately, I myself do not have enough experience with this stuff. Good luck.
