Stella thank you I have felt a little lost. He is not the best with passing on info he it finally tell me that the first pill was to see how fast he metabolized it then they had him come back a few hours later and did scans of his thriod and neck. They want him back a 9 am .I will read the health pages I cant thank you enough.
avis
he had the uptake scan and that would be non-ablated RAI - I-123 - The iodine pill is I-131 which then will destroy the tissue to stop over function eventually
To view RAI cautions please see our health pages at the top corner of the right hand side of this page. Click there and view the RAI cautions and protections for him and your family
If you have trouble - Message me and I will walk your through that information more in detail
Good Luck
Could someone tell me what I need to do to prepare my house for my husband taking the radioactive iodine pill.He took an non radioactive iodine pill today just so they could see how fast he metabolizes threw is system they scanned both his thyroid and neck .They want him back 9am tommrow
He did not get his numbers from the doctors he is going tomorrow. I told him to plz get them he seems to think this is no big deal plus he does not want to worry me .To late for that.
symptoms
hot all of the time ,thinning hair, thirsty and hungry far more then normal, urinating and diarrhea alot .20+ weight loss and he only started at 170,moodiness.His eyes are puffy but not the doctor said the eye was in normal range
I do think he think this is a big deal at all. From what I know this is not an easy thing to go threw .
First and importantly - gather up the actual labs and check to make sure the TSI antibody testing to done. request if not done so an ultra sound of the thyroid and get a copy of that report.
Can you briefy tell me the symptoms your husband is experiencing?
Talk to the doctor about all options-i was on PTU for 16 months with adding synthroid back in to keep from going hypo-if you go on the meds that will give you a chance to get your brain thinking straight again so you can make an educated decision on what steps you want to take to deal with this disease. Don't let the doctor tell you that remission is impossible-it happens-it takes compliane on the patients part, diet change, quit smoking, finding a way to destress. good luck
