I think we all wish we could lose the weight as fast as we lose the hair.

Extreme hair loss was one of the first things that improved after I started on med - within a few weeks, I was no longer losing big clumps; however, even now, 2 yrs after med, I still get some out of my hair brush daily.  The good news is that once your levels get better (for you), your hair should start growing back.

How long did it take you to stop losing hair. I know for everybody is different, but how long after you started medicine you noticed the difference?

I am curious since I have the same problem. I am eager to see my hair to stop falling.

It is good to know there is some hope.

it is funny...it would be great to lose the weight as fast as we lose our hair. I would be in my bones! LOL.

The experience of many Forum members confirms that it will.  As Ann said, you have to get your levels right.  You should be aware that the "normal" ranges for FT3 and FT4 don't assure they are right for you.  The ranges are far too broad, since they have never been corrected, as the AACE did for TSH over 8 years ago.

In my opinion the very best way to treat a thyroid patient is to test and adjust FT3 and FT4 levels with whatever meds are required to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.  Symptom relief should be all important.  Frequently we hear from members that symptom relief  required that FT3 was adjusted into the upper part of its range and FT4 adjusted to at least midpoint of its range.

Is your doctor willing to treat your symptoms in this manner?

It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't mostly in the front.  I used to have extremely thick hair.  Now, I can easily see my scalp when brushing.  I have been trying Biotin which is supposed to help hair, skin and nails.  So far, its just making my face start to break out.  Yuck!  The question is ... will my hair come back?
