Most of my muscle/joint pain is gone since my med(s) are right, except for some in my knees after I've been sitting for long periods.
I take magnesium and calcium both twice/day and that seems to help considerably. In addition, I do yoga, which stretches the muscles and relaxes them at the same time; plus I walk quite a bit.
Yes - I have no issues left. The only thing for me that lingers is my neck gets sore and it bothers me more when I am stressed.
These things helped eliminate the muscle, tendon pain:
T4/T3 combo thyroid hormone on a high enough dose
Vitamin D above 60
Yoga, spinning, strength training
Also, when the adrenals are properly treated, which I think yours are.

Hi,
Maybe also on the next visit ask for a Vit D test .....
Mine was severely low at 9 .. but she's young so should be ok but I'd ask.

I had problems with tightness in my calves and feet. Felt like I had water retention to the point that I felt my calves would burst if I did a squat, and my feet hurt horrible. This went on for about a year, and I brought it up to both my primary care doc and my endo. Told them that it felt like the tissue was swollen. By this time, it had gone to my face and hands. Primary care doc thought it was possible fat tissue from the weight I'd gained (thank you!), endo wanted to send me for a glucose tolerance test. I'd finally had enough and switched endo's. She's changed my meds to a combo t3/t4 and what a difference! I've only been on it about 7 weeks, but my calves are back to normal. Bags are gone under my eyes, and my fingers don't feel like little sausages. Still having pain in my left heel, but am hoping it goes away like the rest of it did. Good luck to you!
I have been taking 500mg of magnesium per da for years. Its slightly noticeable.
There is a product by Hylands called Leg Cramps (walmart), its a natural remedy with magnesium in it. Great before bed if your muscles are sore. Doesnt help nerve burning though. They are related but separate issues.
I've been on magnesium for years.. I started it because it also helps with hot flashes in the night for menopause. It relaxes the muscle so one can sleep better.. it's better to take it at bedtime. It is good stuff.. can't hurt!
Yes, Lyrica is for fibromyalgia drug.
My Doctor told me that doctors just throw that word out there when they don't know what is really causing the pain. She told me she felt it was a metabolic issue! I was impressed that she knew this.
I'm NOT planning on being on it for long but she said we have to STOP the process so Lyrica is what she prescribed. I am really sensitive to drugs so I am taking a super low dose 50 mgs a day. She told me to take it at night (drowsy is a side effect) but I didn't sleep most of the night because I felt alert so I took it in the morning and I had more energy then normal but it's not a nervous energy.
My feet and hands sound the same as yours stiffness etc.. This is only my
3 rd day on Lyrica and I'm feeling NO SIDE effects and I'm no longer hurting unless I wiggle my toes/fingers trying to loosen them up. They say one week to really feel the drug work. I was having pain in my thighs to and that's totally gone now.
As for me I think I'll keep it on hand for the future just in case this ever happens again to me. I normally have a super low BP 98/58 and when I went to my GP I was 160/100 because of the months of pain that was taking it's toll on me.
It's still early.. but so far I'm wondering what took me so long? I was suffering to long. Again I will stop it just as soon as I'm over the hump and my doctor is in agreement with me.
Lyrica is suppose to stop the burning they use it for neuropathy PTS to. I seem to be over the burning toes/fingers now that my levels came down so I can't comment on that. I get dizzy from antibiotic's but so far I don't feel that it is effecting me at all just my pain!
been reading alot about magnesium helping with joint and muscle pain. alot of good reviews on CALM PLUS CAL so i finally bought some for other reasons- but the reviews talk about sleeping better and no more joint and muscle pain..
Lyrica is a prescription fibromyalsgia drug, correct?
So it helps with the burning? Or tightness, or both? Any nasty side effects noticed?
Burning and tight feet and hands are a daily challenge at work, it *****! I can limber up the muscles to some extent from accupressure (trigger point release)- but you use your hands to do that! The burning is deep, its nerves, getting better, but so slow. My tsh has dropped to 16 now from 24, but with the lag time of healing, I still hurt the same.
I was so close to symptom free (a manageable level) last November before juggling dessicated meds. I can't remember what is like to be pain free, and never have been since having Hashimoto, for years.
Well.. as of two days ago I started a low dose of Lyrica 50 mgs a day.. it was a tough decision but I can't deal with the pain anymore. I'm hoping I won't need it in a month or two.
Seems those of us who are dealing with the neuropathy (polyneuropathy) when our
levels get off I'm not so sure we recover as quickly as others. I am better and my levels may need one more decrease but it's been a painful road to say the least.
This past week I was able to drop the orthotic's which I thought was never going to happen.. I couldn't walk no where at anytime without them so for that I'm encouraged However, my feet are still a major part of my pain. I'm still not able to head back to work.. I vacuumed and was in agony for days. Joints in my larger toes become stiff then will ache if I over do. Sometimes they get so cold I can't get them warm even with a heating pad.
I've read many persons take up to 450 mgs of the Lyrica a day so I'm grateful that so far I'm only needing the 50 mgs and it has given me a great deal of relief already.
I went to another foot doctor and he told me there was nothing he could do for me if my levels were off. But he did say.. it would take years of my levels being off to cause any permanent damage. I hope he's right. My burning and numbness is pretty much gone unless I do to much. It complicates everything when the neuropathy happens. Both my hands and feet were effected extremely. I just keep waiting and hopefully one day I'll be 100% again :)
Now that I think about it,I haven't heard one complaint in several months from my daughter (gluten free now). I just reduced her Nature-Throid last week by 1/2 grain for the first time, as labs came in a little too high (slightly over range with a slightly climbing reverse t3). She's been on 3 grains for 9 months now, and joint and muscle pain has gotten better and better over this time, however, it's not been until the change in our diet that the complaints went away all together. It will be interesting to see if they don't return at all with the med decrease, then I will truly feel like the diet is making a difference in her bodies ability to better utilize her meds. Keeping plenty of available thyroid hormone (both t4 and t3) circulating in her body has also made a huge difference, plus time is a big factor! I'm telling you when Armour was changed and her freet4 dropped to the bottom of the range and her t3 was mid range, every joint in her body began to hurt starting with ankles and worked it's way up her body daily. It was the scariest thing and you would of thought she had juvenile arthritis if I'd not known better. I then switched her to the Nature-Throid and it took 1 grain more then the Armour, however, her joint pain started disappearing starting with the last joint affected (fingers) and slowly worked it's way down her body with the first pains (her knees and ankles) being the last to go! As far a muscle pain- this was always more of an issue when on Synthroid and her freet3 was low with high t4 and she always complained of her theighs hurting. It almost seems to me that her muscles hurt when the t3 is too low, but her joints hurt when the freet4 is too low! Crazy!!!
