Heart Palpitations

Hello
I have been having Heart Palpitations,
I have been on 125mcg of Synthroid for 11 years, once in awhile I needed to go to 137mcg.  I decided to not take my medicine, partly because I was camping and forgot it and partly because I wanted to see if they would stop.  Some of my heart palpitations were strong and made me have to cough afterwards and some were just flutters I felt in my neck/throat.  I noticed I was feeling better, had a few but were not as strong.  I took my pill last Thursday 5/26/2016 and then watched to see how I was feeling.  By monday I was feeling ok, called my endo dr on tuesday and told her how I was feeling, she said to stay away from all caffeine (choc, coffee, tea, etc.) So Wednesday I decided to try decaf, I know there is still caffeine in it, but it was the middle point between all or none.  I was having them, so I threw out my coffee and went on with my day.  I dont think I had any after noon of that day, Thursday I had NO caffeine, no coffee, no choc and I felt good, just had a headache, but I dont think I had any.  Now today Friday- I still stayed away from all caffeine, choc, coffee, etc.  But I took my synthroid (7 full days of no med) and I have felt a few palpitations and feeling not right.

Could this be the Synthroid?
I had ultrasound of my thyroid and blood work in October and was spot on and everything looked great.  So is this the medicine, is my body saying it needs a break from this?  Should I look at getting off of the med and starting at scratch?  I go in on the 14th (soonest they can get me in) to ultrasound and blood work.  Im just feeling like I should get off the med and see if this is what will make me feel better.

Your body most likely doesn't need a break from the meds.  What you may need is a dosage adjustment.  The best approach would be to have the blood work done as planned, make sure FT3, FT4 and TSH are all tested, and then compare current labs to lab results from when you were feeling well.  Heart palps can be caused by both hypo and hyper (over medication), so a comparison to your previous labs would indicate if you need to increase or decrease.  A small change in dosage is probably all you need.

Do you know if you have Hashi's?
