Help with Hashimoto's and Menopause Symptoms?

Hi. I am 51 and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's about 9 months ago. I am also going through Menopause, or at least I haven't had a period in 7-8 months. I am on 75 mg of Synthroid. I sleep maybe 2 -3 hours a night due to hot flashes and nausea that feels like morning sickness. And of course no matter how much I exercise or eat right I cannot lose any weight (I'm 25-30 pounds overweight at this point). Can anyone who has had these same symptoms suggest anything that might help? Especially with the nausea and not sleeping? I keep thinking that if I could get some weight off it might help alleviate some of the other symptoms. It's such a catch 22. Thank you so much!!!

hi,
I was diagnosed with hashimotos at 40.  I am now 52.  I am obese and would like to loose this weight...but even more important to me is to find some way to deal with these overwhelming feelings of tiredness, anxiety and impatience...I work hard to maintain good relationships at home and work...but work is the toughest because my anxiety wants to bury me in feeling of uncertainty and self doubt...has anybody found a way to minimize these feelings.

Hi. I am 43 and not going through menopause but am doing a few things because of all my issues. The not sleeping problem I take melatonin. It is natural. As we age we produce less and less of this hormone. We also only produce it in sound sleep between 1-4 am so if we are not sleeping then we do not produce any. Even if we fall back to sleep we shut off its cycle so it will not produce again that evening. Try that you can get it anywhere. Also it is natural so it may take a few weeks and you can probably take 2 for a month or so and when you are sleeping normally for a period of time decrease to 1.

Have you had your hormones checked are you taking anything for that. What I know is when starting to go through perimenopause on up you first lose your progesterone. We are also in an estrogen rich environment so tend to have an abundance there just because which causes weight gain and belly fat. I have been supplementing with natural progesterone creme for years and it has made a huge difference. You may want to have your levels checked and supplement with natural stuff. They also can do bio -dentical hormones just don't go on premarin it causes cancer and weight gain. But then so does too much estrogen.

You really need sleep it is so very important for everything so try this but be patient it takes time. Let us know how it goes and hope you feel better soon
