Help with T4 level and symptoms

Hi, i was wondering if a free T4 level of 3.1 is normal or too high (TSH 1.4) ? I have -10 Vitamin D deficiency and a blood calcium level of 2.61 including symptoms of constipation, fatigue, muscle weakness, dry skin a nd hair and low mood. Does this sound like parahyperthyroid?

If your t4 is 3.1? then to me that is low, and with barb on it looks like Hypo symptoms..

Each lab has it's own reference ranges, depending on the method used to run the test (there may be more than one way to do the same test).

I'm not sure what you are referring to as a "full thyroid test"  vs a "general thyroid test".  In order to figure out what's going on a person needs to have a minimum of TSH, FT3 and FT4; then it's recommended that you add TPOab and TGab to check for antibodies.  Often an ultrasound is recommended as well.  Those tests will give an idea of what's going on, then you can go from there.

fusion25 -- can you post the reference ranges for the tests you had done, since these are lab specific?  If you had hyperparathyroidism, your calcium levels would be high, not low.

Your symptoms indicate hypothyroidism.

Go to labs online . com and check out the site it has test references and you could check yourself.  Did you get a full Thyroid test, don't just have a general thyroid test, it sounds a bit like your hypo- thyroid.  I'm no Dr. but have it rechecked and if your Dr. won't do it get a second opinion. Good luck

Look at your paperwork again. Do you mean FT4 of a 1.4 and TSH of a 3.1?
Many labs use different reference ranges. I am unsure of your calcium ranges and I'm pretty sure you've mixed up FT4 and TSH.

If indeed, your TSH is a 3.1 then you need to get the TGab and TPOab antibody tests for Hashimoto's. DO NOT let a doctor dismiss thryoid disease based solely on TSH or the frees. These levels fluctuate with Hashi and aren't always reliable.

Hashimoto's commonly causes your symptoms plus low D and when that D drops, your calcium may jump slightly. This is exactly what happened to me. I even consulted with a world renowned parathyroid surgeon. He told me I was barking up the wrong tree and he recommended I be tested for Hashimoto's.
