Her name is EsteeL - NEW MEMBER - Can we answer some of her questions on thyroid function and Hyperthyroidism please?

This new member EsteeL posted on an old thread. She sounds like she would really like some information on what basic thyroid function is and also on her new diagnoises of Hyperthyroidism.

Can we post some info for her here ?

Here below I copied and pasted her original question on the old post.

Im only 25 and have just been diagnosed with hyperthryoidism, i get the sweats, the palpataions, the hot flushes, the heat rash all over my face and neck, nausea, vomiting, heat sensitivity - (like feeling heat stroke in 23 degree whether) weakness - nevousness, shakiness. insomnia, out of breath... it could go on..

alot of the above issues make sense now.. which is a good thing.. but I am   still very confused by i just went for furthur blood tests and excuse my ignorance but never heard of a problem with the thyroid.. didnt really know what the thyroid does..

i googled it and the same info comss up with the symptoms etc.. but not much info on the treatment and the seriousnesss (if any) of the condition.

can anyone help me out with some info..

confused and scared.

Thanks everybody for looking at this.

Stella

Hi and welcome to this great community!

I've had symptoms of hyperthyroidism that were medicine induced .... so I can relate to your symptoms and feel for you.  I also got word retrieval issues and brain fog when most get those being hypo not hyper!

Have you been to a Dr yet? What did he/she say?

Keep in touch and WELCOME!
