High TSH, normal FT4 and high cholesterol

This past wk I met with a new doctor as my previous doctor moved.  The new dr is in the same practice as the old one so had all of my old blood test results with last one done in 7/12.

TSH lab range 0.1 - 5.5
    Results: 3/13    16.31
                 7/12      4.09

Free T4 lab range 0.8 - 1.7
    Results: 3/13     1.2
                 7/12     Not tested
Fasting Lipid Panel
   Cholesterol
       Lab range 45

      Results: 3/13        76
                   7/12        72

  LDL
      Lab range <129

      Results:  3/13     154
                    7/12     131

  Triglyderide
       Lab range <199

       Results: 3/13      104
                    7/12        93

I have been on Levothyroxine 100MCG (0.1mg) for the past 15yrs.  What would cause the TSH level to escalate so drastically in 6 months? Would this change affect the increase in the cholesterol?

Sounds like hypothyroidism symptoms creeping back and affecting cholesterol levels.  There is an article online that goes into more detail about changes in TSH: 15 Reasons Why Your TSH May Be Fluctuating.

Not a drastic change. I had gained weight after a vacation in Oct but have not been able to lose it, which previously just getting back to a normal diet would do.  Started to excercise at the 1st of the yr, so thought achieness and tiredness were due to that. Dry skin increase but justified that with it being winter and hair loss has always been.

Hypothyroidism is the most common cause of high cholesterol after diet. Are your hypothyroid symptoms worse?
