Hormone Replacement Therapy for Thyroid Removal

Just got the call that I need to go into my Dr to discuss surgery for removal of right thyroid, the nurse called me and said the results of my testing was follicular neoplasm??  I have read a little bit on it, but of the course the internet provides an overwhelming amount of info and I would like some info from people who have actually been through this.  Of course I have to wait 2 wks before I can see my Dr. for the consult!  I am of course worried about being told it icancerous but I think at this point I am more  worried about hormone replacement therapy and the thought of ...if anyone can relate to where I am at today and tell me there stories that might help get me through the next two weeks of waiting.  Also do i get a 2nd opinion?

Hi,
I had just spoke with my surgeon Feb 18 and he answered all my questions in great detail, we spoke for nearly 2 hours, make sure you take a notepad & pen, or a mini recorder.

What I have learned through my journey is to stay off the internet doing research, every individual case is different.  Why worry about something that does not exist.  Try to stay upbeat and positive, know that the treatments, being provided is to help you feel better.

Ask the physician, Endo, specialist, surgeon, all the questions you have pertaining to your care.  If one doesn't have the answer, another will.  Write down all your questions and have them answered.

Most people will realize after doing reaseach on the internet, every symptom leads to cancer.  Thyroid cancer is the least complicated of all, your pcp or surgeon will be able to provide more in depth info.

As for a 2nd opinion, that is solely up to you.  Most seek out 2nd opinions for peace & comfort, some even seek out a 3rd.

Kick back, enjoy life, and good luck !!!
