Hi Mom!
Nice to meet you - you're daughter is the best! My family and I all had our RAI at LDS - not the U Med so I can only speak for LDS experiences. We were all sent right home. I was lucky enough to have a room/bathroom to myself and teenagers who knew how to work the microwave so I could be isolated all by myself.
My sister, however, had a small home with two dogs, a husband, and a cat - she checked into a cheep hotel for a week. She brought her own towels and sheets (which she threw away after), plastic plates and utensils, plastic bags to cover the mattress, etc. We brought her food three times a day and *lots* of books and magazines (which she threw away after).
I know that Rodeoqueen has kids so she should either be away from them or they should have a long sleepover somewhere else. Yeah, it's hard but better than frying their thyroids.
Every time I drive through Tooele, I sent a "shout out" (of the window) to Rodeoqueen - now I'll have to include Mom too! :-)
Welcome

HI Mom!
It's hard to say. It varies from state to state. She will probably go straight home, and need to have minimal contact with others for a week or more, depending on the dose of RAI they give her.
Some places keep you in the hospital for a few days, but most of the time it is take the pill and get out!
There are certain protocols to follow, but it can be done at home fairly easily if there is a spare bedroom.
I am sorry your daughter is going through this. The prognosis is very good, and she seems to be in good spirits under the circumstances. She sounds like a fighter.
