How to take meds? Soy controversy and med absorption

Another question:
So I take Levothyroxin in the morning with water and no food. How long should I wait before I drink coffee and soymilk or eat granola with walnuts? I have been waiting 2-3 hours after nausea and headache eases off. Also, I am taking calcium supplements after 12:00 each day with Vitamin D3.
At 12 I also take AVLIMIL, an herbal supplement for menopause symptoms. Been on since 48 and tames my nerves and mood swings a little. I started back on that March 13. It has soy isoflavones extract, black cohosh, sage, red pepper, ginger root, licorice root, red raspberry, bayberry bark, damiana leaf so I take it 4 hours after the Levothyroxin. Can you guys see that I am off in the bushes somewhere? My surgeon felt that Avlimil would not hurt any thing. I have read a little about the soy controversy. china does not seem to have anymore thyroid issues than anyone else??

So you just cry when you feel depressed, drink coffee as you need to keep going and do the least to get by? wow what a life!! I have a 10 yr. old...Got to pick up the pace.Thanks for your support. Hope I can give to another when this is under my belt!!

I started seeing an Endo this past December and all she told me was to take my Levo on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking any other meds.  Hope this helps.

hi i take my levo at night  late usually about 11p five hrs after i ate dinner.  there is alot of information for taking levo at night and better absorption  it works for me.  try google thyroid meds at night instead of in the morning.. don t have to worry about breakfast or taking other meds in the morning because you took it at night

Thanks so much. Not only am I new to this Thyroid insanity, but I have never participated in a community conversation. I will research other parts of site and see if I can come up with additional info about supplements and soy. How does one get through the lethargy and depression with out outside stimulants?

Absorbion of meds on the stomach is about being consistent, same every day during that one hour after your meds. If your not consistent its the same as getting a different dose of med.

Some say 1/2 hour is enough? I waited a minimum of 45 min, I ate a simple breakfast in the break room at work. Oatmeal, fruit ect. My life improved when I gave up coffee.

Soy has been beaten to death here. What I have to comment about soymilk is, if you try almond milk, you'll pour the soymilk down the toilet. Most agree after they try it.

Some soy mimics estrogen - thus how the the product you take works.

That said, it might be easier for men to say no to soy than the women here - there is no benefit for me at all.
