Sorry - they seems to have a one tract mind though LOL Just kidding guys -- we love to chat with you.
Welcome aboard! We can use all the crazy nuts we can get on here.
I just put in the salt according to the directions. Depends on the size of your tub also. Works wonders.
Oh, and hey CarMan her "butt" will be in the tub also. ROFLMBO!!
Don't run the men off, Stella. They make it more interesting on here! ;-)
I am - I am not sure what happened. major --- major goiter I think - What's your thoughts?
I'd worry aboutn that cat!
Oh no--- Ladies.... another guy on board. What's this forum turning into.!!! ????
Keep it clean fella's -- save it for the TGIF pub .
Good Luck with getting those awful symptom out of the way. I going to try that vicks thing tonight - My skin looks like an deprived elephant. :)
I might add to make sure that you copy ALL the doctors you might be seeing with any lab results. I figure one might catch something the other didn't and they all need to know what drugs the others prescribe.
And, FunniBunni.....did you say you HAD Graves or you HAVE Graves? I would sure like to put mine in the past tense.
Now if only someone would mentions "butt" instead of "boobs" I would be a happy man!
ROLMBO.... I had no idea that just the word "boobs" would cheer so many peeps up :o) so here it goes..... boobs, boobs, boobs !!!!!!!! LOL
OK all kidding aside... thank you so much for all of your responses I needed a laugh as much as I need some comraderie so THANK YOU !!
Also I have a question about the bath salt thing, how much do you use in one tub full of water? And the Vicks exellent idea!
Have a great day, I see my new Endo on Monday.. so I'll let you all know how it goes.

Sorry you are feeling so bad. I'm right there with you. I had Graves for years and I gained a tremendous amount of weight and was an absolute slug. Got out of the shower one day and told my husband I would never say anything about anyone being lazy again b/c after my shower I had to sit down and rest for about an hour.
Watch the heart palps and the bp, that could be indicating a thyroid storm. Had them really bad if I tried to do housework or such. If I got mad, just knew I was going to die right then and there. Probably should have.
All the symptoms you listed are the Graves. For the dry cracked skin, soak in a bath with epsom salts or natural sea salts. I like celtic sea salts myself but skymax uses epsom salt. Am sure whatever kind you prefer would work just as well. It will amaze you at how quickly it rehydrates the skin. The reasoning is that our body is made up of whatever % of salt water so that is what it wants to soak in instead of plain water. But of course don't drink it. Would think your boobs are probably so itchy b/c of the dry skin. Another thing you can use for extreme dryness is body butters or vick's vapor rub. The vick's works better than anything I've ever seen. And b/c it doesn't just soak in, it's too thick, it continues to work.
Hope some of this helps. Can't help you with the nodules and such.

Bryan, behave yourself!! LOL He's feeling good again, can anybody tell? ROFLMBO!! Guess with all we throw at him with all our woman problems he takes it pretty well, doesn't he? This is the first time I've seen him lose it on the mentioning of boobs! *giggle snort*
That is just too funny!
Really am glad to see you are feeling so much better, Bryan!! =^)

I scanned thru it 3X and still miss the "boobs" .... nasty nasty nasty sir AR ... see what is happening ... you are feeing better!!!!!!
C~
Well either AR is rubbing off on me - or vice versa. KEEP THOSE LAB TESTS WITH YOU. It sounds like you are thinking of trying to change since your doctor now won't open up to Armour - so it is easier to make the change with copies "in hand."
Boobs......... AR that's naughty. lol This poor guy gets it all the way around. Cycles - boobs ... oh my gosh.
Personally (I am Armour) I don't really think you want to consider that at this time. you are very hyper and your T conversion is definately working well. Why do you want to change? I can honesty tell you - It is very easy to go very hyper on Armour. If you really have a good conversion with your T's it is best to stay on Synthroid.
Armour effects and changes through out the body especially for a woman through out the month. You change and it changes too. With Synthroid it is a slower process and the T4 converts slowly into T3 so when you are changing it doesn't play "catch up" so quickly. Did I say that right? Do you get that?
Depending on how you feel - once you go back to a decent level in TSH around 1.5 see how you are doing. I would bet - you will feel better and those symptoms will subside. Anxiety effects both hyper and hypo so be prepared. I am hoping to get my blood test back Monday. I think I am real close to that magic 1.5 TSH!! I have noticed alot less anxiety and do not take my (1/4 tablet of .25 mcg) every morning as I did. but........ when I need it - it is there and I have used it sometimes 1/2 tablet 2 or 3x's daily ... around PMS time :) Try commenting on that one Mr. AR :)
Don't be discouraged with the anxiety - just get it under control with the TSH and a little meds. I hate taking Rx's --- but.......... well you know.
I was Graves for only 8 months - but I did lose weight--- ALOT. Yeah -- it was nice but when the other symptoms came -- OH MY!!! I thought I was having the "big one"
Now hypo - but tweeking to perfection -- I did start losing the 40 I gained after becoming hypo. It will come -- don't worry
Good Luck newbie (I am excited to say that - b/c I was just a while ago) :) It will all be alright.
Ok, I read the whole thing.
I think you have a pretty good idead of what they meant be the nodule(s) and the gland as far as uptake goes.
Most of the symptoms you describe are Hyper symptoms. The muscle weakness and pain, the antsy jittery short tempered stuff. Confusion and foggy feeling. Fatigue and anxiety.
Not sure you can attribute the foot problems to hyper symptoms, but dry skin and itchyness sounds familiar.
Get copies of all your tests to keep at home. Don't go to the doctor and let them say "your tests were blah blah blah" and then go home thinking you'll remember any of it.
When you see the Endo, take a written list of questions so you don't walk out and five minutes later think "OH! I was going to ask...". Take a pen, too, so you can take notes. You'll forget half of what was said by the next day.
Ask for copies of any tests to be sent to you.
Don't take anybody's word on anything, until you know you can trust them.
Some doctors are very good and you can set your mind on auto-pilot and let them treat you.
Some doctors don't know what the heck they're talking about.
The only way to know the good one from the bad one is to be educated and pay attention.
I only read the title and saw boobs as I scanned through.
Sorry, I'm a man and BOOBS just sort of jumped out there. :/
Just wanted to say that the times of my illness when I was so exhausted I litterally could not get out of bed was when I was extremely hyper. My body was burning energy faster than I could supply it. So, even though it seems like an oxymoron, it is not unusual.
Carry on with the helpful input, girls.
Thanks for sharing with me. The ups and downs are what I am also worried about, if they decide to use the RAI on me.. It really doesn't sound great the idea of getting worse before you get better u know?
Sorry to hear your so miserable....but if it is any consolation your story sounds identical to mine.. I would flip flop between being hyper, normal, and hypo. Your thryoid can surge, put out to much t4. The pituitary then produces extra t3 and you get overdosed. Then your hyper...Normal TSH is 3-.3 now. But even if that is normal it does not mean your t3 is because some people cant produce it correctly. I recently had a total thryoidectomy. I take synthetic thryoid and I have gone through hell. I remain hyper(too much) and am begging to go on ARMOUR.The docs here dont know what to do and refuse to change me. I fired my doc and am looking for one who has it together.....get a good doc and don't et them tell you its PANIC ATTACKS! Their famous for that one too. Hope this has helped...your normal for your condition!!
