Hypothyroid - concerns with treatment.

Hi,
I have hypothriodism and have a few questions that my general practioner is unable to answer.

I have enlarged axillary lymph nodes and a red rash on my forarm that has been there for nearly two years.
Are these thyriod related?
He believes not but I'm not so sure.

I was taking 50mcg of thyroxine test results were..
Free T4  10.7  (10.00 - 24.00)
TSH       5.3   (0.4 - 5.5)

I was suffering from very bad leg cramps enough for me to be nearly limping some days, so my Doctor increased my thyroxine to 75mcg from 50 mcg.

The next results were...
Free T4 13.4  (10.00 - 24.00)
TSH      0.8    (0.4 - 5.5)

The leg cramps are better but are replaced with more aching and tiredness than cramps!
Headaches are now daily and I feel blahh...

What should I think....my doctor believes that these levels are within range, so I should feel fine now.

And has left me taking 100 mcg one day and 50 mcg the next.
He ordered more tests but not thyriod related more general tests.
Like a full blood count, iron levels, vitamin B 12, folate ect.

Thank you for your advice.

The hormone levels may be good now, but the symptoms could take several weeks to diminish.

It's also posible you may be deficient in key vitamins or minerals that are giving you some of the symptoms. Maybe the further testing will turn up a shortage of something.

With the pills, I wonder if you could easily cut some of them in half and take 75mcg a day. I'm not a doctor and I'm not suggesting you do that, but I wonder why you couldn't. Maybe ask your doctor about it. If you had all 50s instead of 50s and 100s, it would be fairly simple. Pill and a half a day. 75mcg
