Hypothyroid and Weight Gain

I have been on synthyroid for about two years and I still haven't got the right dosage. I work out and watch what I eat but still my doctor says well, women gain weight as they get older. My question is-Is there a scale that I may refer to to understand the correct levels? I am on 75mg. and just found out that my TSH level is 20. When I get to the correct level will I lose weight?

I am a 31 year old male who was very active in the past and a big time runner.  I think I am finally on the right dose 6 months after surgery.  However, losing weight seems almost impossible for me.  I have had to seriously step up my weightlifitng routine and go to an almost neandertahl type diet.  I went from 187 to 212.  It is slowly coming off but with a lot of extra work.

I have been on synthyroid for about eight months and I still haven't got the right dosage. My doctor started me out on 100 and then went to 112.  Now I'm on synthroid 100 x4 days a week and synthroid 112 x3 days a week and I am still gaining weight no matter what i do. I watch what I eat but still my doctor says well, women gain weight as they get older.

I don't know if you will lose weight when you get to normal levels, but I gained the most of my weight when I was in hyper mode.  All body's are not the same.

Keep us posted and one of the most experience maybe able to explain in more detail.
