Is armour thyroid and cytomel a good combination?

I received RAI for hyperthyroid and after two years of trying different meds I finally take armour thyroid 120mg, my blood work is fine but I don't feel fine. I have started taking cytomel 12.5mcg thinking that may give me a little more energy and help with a little weight loss. I'm wondering if anyone has added extra t3 with the armour thyroid and had good results. My doctor doesn't know about this yet...

I take 30mg Armour and 5 mcg Cytomel in the morning at 6:30am  and 30mg Armour and 5 McG Cytomel again at 3pm. I feel great, much better than when they had me on just 30mg Armour once a day.

Armour is the desicated pig thyroid which contains about 30% T3 whereas normal human thyroid contains about 7% T3. Usually the recommendation if you're not doing well on the Armour alone is to add T4 to bring it up to the normal human ratio. Or you might need adrenal support.

I agree with gimel. Blood and saliva tests (test adrenal function) will tell you what you need to adjust.

Adding extra T3 is something that should  be approached very carefully  and self-medication is not recommended.  I'm really interested in why you felt the need to add a T3 med.  In my opinion, symptoms are all important.  So, if you don't feel fine, usually your blood work is not fine.   Why don't you post your lab test results and reference ranges and let members help interpret.
