I-131 SCARED SCARED

Since I've only had ultrasound, BUT have 4 solid nodules occurring on both sides of thyroid--why would doc want I-131???  Do they already think even before biopsy that I have cancer that has spread???  I am really upset!  Thank you.

Yeah, I cancelled my scan. My endo said it was pretty pointless.  I have to get a biopsy or surgery, and those are my  options.  Take an easy, I know you are scared.  I AM TOO.  Just keep thinking, most of the time this is not cancer.

Yes, they were talking about just doing the scan--that's what scared me!  Why even recommend the scan before you even have the biopsy to see if there's a malignancy?  But, once again--the surgeon's nurse who will do the biopsy said "no" I don't need a I-131 scan.  Thank you!

Were they just talking about the scan?  THe uptake scan?  My doctor and the hospital seemed to have some confusion in what they named it too. They also called it the 131, but it was a scan and not the treatment.  I'm not sure, but see if that is maybe what they meant.

This was suggested by the doc that read the US.  I called the surgeon who will be doing biopsy & the nurse said I didn't need to have it, that I just need the biopsy right now.  The 2 largest are 1 cm.  Thank you.

Yeah .. I'm not sure either .. how large are these nodules?  Is it some type of effort to shrink them????????  Just thinking outloud here .. I really don't know why either ?????
