I'm going to throw this out here, but the disclaimer is that I've never tried it, and I can't for the life of me remember who told me about it. But whoever it was said that it works. Swallow 1-2 tsp of olive oil, then chase it with a cup of hot cocoa. Apparently, it gets things moving?
How about good old prunes??? THey taste nice and sweet and will clean you out in no time. I get the dried prunes and eat a handful and then poop away! lol
Are you taking the right kind of magnesium cynnie? My doctor told me to take the Calm product that you mix with warm water at night....yummy and it works!
You might want to change your enzymes or either take a break from them for a while.
As far as the oatmeal goes, try to get the steel cut oatmeal. The fiber content in them is so much higher, and it works better than the sugary fruity kind.
This is very common with HypoT.
Thanks, I have even had this problem when I was a kid, so you know, that's the fun part about it:) I will try the miralax I have heard. My enzymes aren't working and nor are my stool softeners
Was having the same problem. The doctor told me to eat oatmeal every morning and to take Metamucil. It actually has worked. Has also lowered my cholesterol which had gone up due to the thyroid issues.
My remedy of choice is my Power Juicer. The food prep and clean up take longer than popping a pill. But it is one of the ways that I take time for myself. I deserve it.
Of course, if you are diabetic I don't know if this is a good idea. My glucose and A1C are very stable, so no problem for me.
And you have to start with smaller amounts of juice. Don't drink a quart the first day if you have plans to leave the house.
I was on Miralax for 2 yrs and had a colonoscopy, too and all was normal. Turns out mine was subclincal hypo and when my #'s were more hyper it went away and has stayed away and consitently changes if my #'s are more hypoi!!!!
Miralax is now otc .. my GI had me scripted on it and they say has no long term effects, is non addicting, and it works really well.
C~
I have had it even when my levels are stable.
I think mainly the problem is due to the metabolism.
When you have a thyroid problem, we just dont seem to break down the foods as fast.
My bowels havent been the same since I had RAI and TT last year although I must say they are getting their act together since being stable on Thyroxin.
