Is half thyroid surgery mandatory?

My right thyroid lobe measures 6.6x3.1x2.5 cm. According to us, there is a solid cystic nodule at right middle pole of size 4.1x3.2x2.3 cm. I also went for FNA test for that nodule. Lucky that it is benign and ok. Should I go surgery for right lobe. Now I can feel tight in my neck especially wat bed time. Should I go for thyroid surgery or keep it like this until it is much bigger?

I don't have any of these disease. My blood test shows normal free T4 and TSH. The problem is the nodule compresses the wind pipe and it caves a bit in x-ray.

Do you you have Hashimoto's or Graves Disease? Are you taking a thyroid medication of any type?  Nodules sometimes shrink with treatment of hypothyroidism, if that's what you have... it may not get bigger.

You and your doctor must decide the best course, of action; we can't tell you what to do.  What has your doctor recommended?

If nodule causes compression symptoms it has to be reduced in size. For cystic nodule PEI can be attempted before considering surgery
