Is the pressure/choking feeling in throat constant?

Hi.  Just wondering .. for those that have had or have that choking, pressure or thumb pressing into  your neck feeling ... does it feel like that constantly or just intermittently (sp?!).

For me it usually starts in the afternoon and gets worse as the evening goes on.  When i wake up in the morning, it's much much better.

So I am wondering is it acutally my thyroid (I do know it's slightly enlarged and a small nodule) or is it something else.

Thanks!!!!

Pickle juice contains a lot of vinegar and vinegar is a base. Bases neutralize stomach acids.

I had the constant choking for over a year. I had suspected that mold in our apartment might be the culprit.

The choking started to dwindle and eventually went away for a few weeks when we moved to temporary housing before buying our house. My ENT didn't really know what it was. She suggested it was a combination of GERD and allergies (I was getting sinus infections ever few weeks/sometimes months.) I was on twice the regular dosage of lansoprazole AND a daily dosage of ranitidine. It was definitely best in the morning and got worse as the day progressed.

When we moved into our house, the choking returned. We discovered a huge black mold problem in our attic.

Once the mold was gone, the choking went always almost entirely. I still have the feeling once in a while, but not nearly to the horrifying daily experience that I was living with. Check your home for mold or other serious allergens.

I too have this horrible choking feeling.  Mine is all day everday.  I'm taking Nexium in the mornings.  My ENT put a scope down my throat and said my lingular tonsil is swollen, that tonsil is on the base of your tongue in the back. I had no idea there were tonsils on your tongue.  But I have taken two rounds of antibiotics for infection and this feeling never goes away.  I burp all the time and have the choking feeling, but I don't know what else to do. :(  I also have a sore on my tongue, not sure if that is related to any of this.  Could just be a canker but its been there for about a week.  I have had this choking feeling for about 3 months now, and is just getting worse by the day.

Hi all I have the same feeling for few weeks now, I have had GERD and thought I might be recovering and after a Endoscopy I was put on H PYLORI. Then I stopped taking meds. Till it came back seems like. I had a stiff neck for awhile as well and my left arm aches sometimes even now. However the main trouble am having is this choky feeling and having to clear throat every now and then. Also am back on Lansoprazole, already had a chest X-Ray, US of thyroid and extensive blood work done all of which came back OK. Wonder what this could be? :(

I have that feeling. Usually happens at night for me. A couple minutes after waking up it seems fine but then returns later in the night. I know its gotta be with the neck muscles. Something there.
