Are you familiar with what hematocrit is and hemoglobin? red blood cells?
My counts are at the high end? Just curious....................
I hope I can convince him to do them -I can not deal very well with feeling this way.
I normally am a very spirited, energy filled person. I asked his assistant when I
called would he do a vit. panel and told her my problems. She said he addresses
these issues. We will see. Vitamin D is the big deal now. Alot of MD's are jumping
on the band wagon to do this test. Don't mean to sound sarcastic. I just want to
know that I have not missed anything and anything to make my health better. I save
every test so I can show them. By the way what is osteopenia?
You might not be able to get a doctor to test for all those vitamins/minerals because of insurance limitations........ good luck.. I know my pcp will not test for them, in spite of the fact that there has never been an insurance issue - I guess he's being "thrifty" at MY expense -- I was recently denied a lab order for calcium, vit D and PTH, even though I have symptoms of hypoparathyroidism AND have osteopenia.
Hi Yes I went to GNC and got their 1000mcgs with 400 mcgs of folic acid tested 571
on B12 test and will try and get my new intern to re-test my Vit D which I got up to 45
and check magnesium, potassium, selenium and calcium. It can get very complicated.
Sublingual means a medication that is placed under your tongue and is disolved. Doing this the medication is absorbed and used into the blood stream much faster than when you swallow a pill which has to go to the stomach and be broke down before it is absorbded into the body. Sublingual bypasses the stomach! Hope that helps.
Wish you the best on your surgery. There are so many things to know and frankly
some practitioners still look at women like they are fussing. Thanks for your input it
has been very helpful to me,
Best to you,
Carla
I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's and I do not have antibodies.... I have all of the above mentioned symptoms. My diagnosis was based on the pathology report from my biopsy. I am scheduled for surgery on August 25th. I have vascilated between hyperthyroid and euthyroid. My surgeon and endo say that I have subclinical Hashimoto's. I just had new labs drawn yesterday. In March I was hyper, in July I was euthyroid, and it will be interesting to see where I am today...
Please explain sublingual. I have B complex in a multi that is pretty good and take
the 1,0000mcgs as mentioned before. Saw a neurologist he thinks I have fybromyalgia
and I will see new internist next week. The medical shuffle - boy I hate this I am used
to feeling good, but try and keep a good attitude.
Thanks much and enjoy talkin with you, you are a smart girl,
carla
At 571 - your B12 levels might not be high enough for you with all the stress. You could try a sublingual B12 to try to bring your levels closer to the top of the range....Or maybe it would be better to just add a B complex.
Hi! have been tested for calcium values 8.6-10.4 Mine was 9.5, maybe I should get
another supplement. TSH levels 1.970 in July and May were 2.04 right in the middle
of their values. T4 free- 1.4 in their range from 0.8-1.8 I will inquire about getting tested
with my new internist next Friday-21st. Have lots of questions. Have been tested for
B-12 and Vit. D. Vit D was low and now have built it up from 22 to 45 and shooting for
around 60, B-12 was 571 right in the middle of their values. So much to know and
confusing - had alot of psych symptons and terrible anxiety which has gotten better
now but I am still not what I was before my crash. Put me on ativan, for anxiety and Prozac for depression small amount. Heartpounding, fatique is somewhat better. My free T3 was 200 on their values 230-420 I was low. I take alot of supplements but will ask to be tested for magnesium.and some others. I need to remind MD's to re take tests
some are not competent to keep up with your records.
My potassium level was in the middle. Who knows stress knocks out and depletes
your body. I had a horrible messy divorce and a surgery 5 months later. That's when I
really fell apart. very active and could walk a 16 min mile.
thanks for sharing your info and look forward to talking to you again. This is a very
helpful site will keep you posted.
Hi, No the typical thyroid panel does not normally include one for Hashimoto's disease.
You would need an anti-bodies test done for Hashimoto's. Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies is the technical name for it! Here in Australia if it is under 60 U/ml then you probably don't have it. The majority of the population have some antibodies with no ill effects.
The symptoms are wide and varied. Personally for me, fatigue, joint pain, headaches verging into migraines, swing between constipation and diahorrea, brain fog, inability to cope with stress of any level, sometimes skin rashes, exczma, bags under eyes, and more!
Tingling in arms and legs and twitching may be due to you having low calcium. Have you been tested for that?
Hashimotos is the hypo aspect of the auto-immune diseases. If you are hypo on your thryoid tests and have been for a long time then an anti-bodies test may tell you what you already know anyway!
Out of curiosty what are you levels of TSH etc?
