Thank you for letting us know that.
Katie sent me a message in my inbox. She only took 25 mg. of Cytomel and I think she said she was going to split it. She also put in a call to her doctor. Thanks for the intervention. She said she was okay! Ya'll are wonderful, caring people. Keep up the good work and concern for others!
I agree that 50mcg is insanely high to start out on........bump!
bumping it up again and hoping Katie will see it and let us know how she's doing.
bumping this up.................
We are not even using Cytomel here, but I knew that sounded way too high! I hope she sees this post. I also sent her a message in her inbox. I can't believe that a doctor would have her add t3 in this manner. Way to quickly and way to much with the amount of Synthroid that she is on. Doesn't make sense! Well, I take that back, I unfortunately can believe it! You might want to contact her, too. Thanks for caring about others.
That's a LOT of Cytomel. 50 mcg of Cytomel is roughly equivalent to 200 mcg Synthroid. You're right, the reduction in Synthroid is not enough to compensate for the Cytomel addition. I'd certainly start out lower and split the dose. Most people we hear from taking it split their dose...of course there are always individual differences and you have to experiment with what works best for you.
A one-to-three ratio of T3 to T4 is also skewed. A healthy human thyroid produces T3 to T4 in about a 1-to-twenty ratio.
My former PCP had no clue how to use Cytomel. At one point, she tickled the little keys on the computer, looked up the dose, and wanted to put me on 25 levo and 25 Cytomel. It did not happen, and that's part of the reason she became my "former" PCP.
Can you please send her a message. I'm a little concerned!
50 is kinda high if anything I would lower it to 25 to start and go up as needed or if needed.
I take 100 synthroid and 37.5 cytomel. And I feel pretty good now I am going to get my labs in the next few days and see what is happening.
I started on 25 the .5 would not have done anything for me. And I tried taking it through out the day but found I was crashing half way through but if I take it all at once in the morning I stay awake through out the day with no problems.
The Post is called "MY doctor added Cytomel w/ Synthroid). It's just below this post by a few entries.
