Levoxyl recall, what now?

Hi, there is anyone else having to deal with this Levoxyl recall? I have had hypothyroidism for 18 years. Diagnosed with Hashimoto's 8 years ago. I was on levothyroxine 100 for many years and did great. Then something changed, Hashimoto's Dr.s said...Been on Levoxyl 75 for 4 years and have never felt good. Tried Armour, too much t3 for me, I swelled up on Sinthroid. I am ok on Levoxyl I guess but now they had to give me the generic because of the recall. 6 days on it and I am very dry, lethargic and swollen everywhere. Can anyone suggest a thyroid medicine that I can discuss with my Dr. please or does anyone know when Levoxyl will be back???
Thank you!!

It's most likely one of the fillers in the Synthroid tablets that's giving you those symptoms since the active ingredient, T4, is exactly the same in both.  A generic is one option, and another is Tirosint which is a hypoallergenic gelcap without fillers.  You might ask your doctor about that.

We're all having to deal with it.  Levoxyl was recalled to the retail level, so the shelves were emptly as soon as the recall was published.  They are saying that it could be 2014 before it's back.

Different manufactureres use different fillers (inactive ingredients) in their tablets, and people are sometimes allergic or sensitive to them.  Brand name Tirosint is a gelcap with water as the only filler, so it's hypoallergenic.  You could ask your doctor about that.

Also, a compounding pharmacy can make up your script with minimal fillers.
