Looking for a good doc in Denver

I am moving out to Denver, CO next month and I am looking for a good dr that treats thyroid.
Anyone that has a good experience with someone would be sooo helpful to me right now.
I am currently taking Synthroid/Cytomel for Hashimotos thyroid. I would like to start a dessicated thyroid though.
I have many symptoms still. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!!!!!

I will look forward to your updates.  :)  And if you're a little emotional and even cry in your visit from sheer relief that somebody "gets it" and these symptoms are not all in your head...it's okay, they understand.

Funny you wrote me because today I called a compunding pharmacy in Denver and asked who they suggested and they said this dr. I made an appt for January last month already. I am so excited to go somewhere they look at the whole picture!
Thanks so much for you advice! I will keep you updated after my visit next month!

Well, I'm not 100% on the adrenals, you could call them and ask (just google the practice name, their website will pull up), I asked them a ton of questions before I ever had my first appointment, and they graciously answered them all for me.  I have actually been working with their BioMeridian department as well as the physicians, which supports my full health, and I've been feeling better than I have in years.

They do work with T3/T4 meds, and will be the first to tell you that if they can't get you feeling better, they will refer you to some endos they work with on special cases.  They gladly switched me over from Synthroid to a dessicated hormone, and wow, my hair stopped falling out in clumps!  They take a whole body approach to wellness, and will look for other things which may be complicating/contributing to your thyroid condition and symptoms, for me that started with yeast free living.  After 7 weeks the change is undeniable, and at the very bottom of the importance list but still encouraging-I've lost 20 lbs (starting weight 150 lbs).

I wish you well on your journey to health!

Hey~
I really want a good doc that works with T3/T4 combo meds. Do they also look at adrenals? Most docs want cash payments that look at all of that. I am so frustrated after this year of all the money and time I have spent at different docs that have told me its not my thyroid. I was put on bio-identical hormones, which made me feel worse and many supplements which were costly and did nothing! I really feel that if it is not just my thyroid then it might be my adrenals. My testosterone was really high this summer too.
I am frustrated and sick of being disappointed! Thanks for your input though!

Yep, they do accept quite a few different insurance cards, they have a website that lists them all.  They were actually a preferred provider with my insurance, so they're in network, thank goodness.  All of the blood testing sure adds up!

Hi, I am being retested next week so I will post the results. I have a feeling that something is low. I have really dry, cracked skin right now too which for most is a huge hypo symptom. I am also feeling fatigued and very hungry lately. I need to see what the levels are, I do understand that. I have been on Synthroid for about 7 years and have suffered from symtpoms. This last summer I had my FT3 tested and found that it was low. The Cytomel was added, but I dont think its enough. Its just the waiting game to see what my labs show after 6 weeks of adjusting my dose!

You mentioned that you still have many symptoms.  This brings to mind the question as to whether your FT3 and FT4 levels have been adjusted high enough in their ranges?  This can be accomplished some of the time with a T4 only med; however if the patient is not converting T4 to T3 adequately, then a separate source of T3 is required.  This can usually be either a combination of T4 and T3 meds, as you were taking, or it can be a combo T4/T3 med.  Before switching meds and adding that to the mix, you might consider making sure that FT3 and FT4 levels are high enough.  If you have been tested for FT3 and FT4, please post test results and reference ranges.

Integrated OBGYN in Parker, CO (very near Denver and worth the little drive) is excellent.  This practice blends the best of Eastern and Western medicine, taking into account your whole body health.  I drive 1 1/2 hours to see these ladies, and would drive twice as far-they are wonderful, and have given me hope.  I too have Hashimotos, but with a lifestyle change am working to get it under control-imagine, being able to stabilize those antibodies!  I would schedule your appt now, they get a little booked up.  :)
