MRI with Contrast Experiences

Mt ENT wants me to have a MRI with contrast on my head because I have blood work consistent with secondary hypothyroidism.  I know a lot of people have severe reactions to the Gadolinium used as contrast material. It has some nasty side effects as well.  I have liver disease and I don't want to have anything that could affect my liver.  I also have major reactions to lots of medications so I am thinking of refusing, what do you think?

Can a brain MRI be done without using contrast material and still get a good picture?
