Mild Graves' Disease

Hello Dr. Lupo good day to you, I hope you are still in the mood of answering my question..
It was confirmed that I have graves' disease and my doctor said that It is mild, my RAI uptake and scan: here's what it was said:
FINDINGS: THE THYROID demonstrates slightly asymmetric increased of uptake within the right lobe of the thyroid but with overall homogeneous uptake throughout both lobes without focal nodular areas of uptake. The percent uptake at 3 hrs measured 44%. The percent uptake at 24 hours measured 61.2%

IMPRESSION: THYROID UPTAKE FINDINGS CONSISTENT WITH GRAVES' DISEASE IN AN APPROPRIATE CLINICAL SETTINGS.
also in the past 3 weeks I stopped taking my propranolol due to i wanted to know how i feel, and since then i have been feeling very good, my palpitations slowed down, and i have normal heart rate, no shaking, no hair loss, all in all i feel so normal....when we go back to JAX Florida this coming Next week I have been reffered to an ENDO for treatment. My question is Can i just not take any treatments right now, since I been feeling well...does it really necessary to take the treatment, YOU answered my question the last time and  you recommend to take anti- thyroid medicines the Methamezole vs. radioactive vs. surgery.
Doctor Lupo, Do you think I should have blood work done again to see how my TSH, T3 and T4 are doing?
again Thank you so much for your time..have a wonderul day..

As long as your T3 AND t4  are in range you don't need an ATD. Stay away from endos who will try to treat you according to your TSH. I notice you also have tg antibodies(antithyroglubins) as well. This probably explains why you have a ''mild'' case of graves. Your antibodies are balancing each other out. I too have TG antibodies, but mine aren't elevated. I also have a mild graves which is in remission 98% of the time.....dating back to the early 90's I believe.

Treatment by individual varies.. What works for one may not work as a rule for everyone. Its hard to say.

Even solid established researched treatment doesn't guarrantee 100% results.

I am a believer in whole body treatment and how some things that aren't an RX can help patients.

One thing for sure is autoimmune diseases as a whole are spurred with a breakdown in the immune system and if that is weal or not working all sorts of diseases will fester.

Building that and knowing what each patient may be lacking there is very important to discover and replace what it needs to be healthy running again.

Good day Ladies,

I did have my TSI it's 163 and my tg is 65.5 and my RAI uptake confirm it too that i have graves'  and my Internal Doctor here said that it is mild, I will be seeing and ENDo once we get to Florida...right now i am taking supplements and bugleweed and lemon balm and motherworth...and so far it helps me i guess because i don't have symptoms anymore....and I sleep well at night......that's why i wanted to know, if i can get by without having to take any medicines for treatment...
and also completely changed my diet since October, no more sodas, junk foods of what so ever..eating healthy  even though sometimes I crave for junk food instead  I go for fruits....it puzzled me too, my mother in - law she's in the Philippines right now, 20 yrs ago she had Toxic goiter (you can't tell by just looking at her because her goiter is inside)  according to the doctor that she seen.. she has bulging eyes...she didn't take anything just prayers and up until now she is still alive and WELL!! I have two sister and my mom is well too... except me :((  I haven't started any anti-,thyroid medicines yet, other than propranolol but i wean off of that.....my doctor here didn't give me any anti-thyroid medicines until i will see and ENDO....so what do you think ladies? I thank you all so much for replying to my message....Merry Christmas to all of you....

Also, if you are doing just fine with(or without) the meds, there is no need for having RAI, and the possible side effects that come with it. Not everyone can get away with just stopping the meds. I did, but I think i was the exception to the rule..at the same time it was sending me slightly hypo. If your labs still read hyper or slightly hyper, stopping the meds could be detrimental. You don't want to go into thyroid storm...not fun!

You should get the TSI labs to truly confirm this.
