New Doc

Saw yet another new Doc today, she was truly a breath of fresh air. She agrees that with my symptoms, ultrasound results and family history there is more than enough information to have concerns and to further investigate. New labs were drawn including a repeat of the much revered TSH, the free t3 & free t4 along with antibodies. She is also ordering a neck CT to rule out any lymph node involvement. She listened to every word I said, took me seriously and responded with compassion and clinical sense. I will post all results/references as soon as I get them.

The mainstay why these forums were created. Patients were tired of hearing the droll from their doctors and a deep soul when they found improvement to share with others.

agreed, and it is hard not to wonder about your sanity when doctors will not listen to your story without discrediting what you say. My hope is that I am on the road to discovery with this new doctor.

It amazes me that any doctor can respond to a patient who says they don't feel well with  "There is nothing wrong with you". It feels so hopeful to have a doctor say, lets get started figuring this out so we can get you feeling better". I will proceed will cautious optimism but from all indications this will be a productive venture in restoring my quality of life. Many thanks to all who have posted to this and previous questions and posts, it kept me from losing hope.

The thyroid word seems to be getting out more and more in recent days. Whether a fan of Dr. Oz or not, thyroid seems to be his revolutionary topic quite often and with his popularity on TV now his medical information is being looked at more and more by our average medical professionals.

I don't follow his show faithfully however appreciative he is getting the word out about thyroid and patients not feeling as well (or not good at all) on traditional approaches as they were.

Hopefully more of the average specialists and general practioners are coming to terms their approaches weren't as proven "good" as they hoped and or practiced and looking for better ways to treat us! Although on the dark side, so many docs still are sold on their "spoon fed" poor treatment that advocants of this terrible disease still feel overworked.

Good Luck on your new doc though! I hope you find your answers to feeling good again and always have communities like this to turn to for suggestions :)
