Nodules

I have been suffering from extreme tiredness, sore throat (like there's a lump in my throat), heart flutters and some stomach issues (Acid reflux). I am also an asthmatic and get out of breath very quickly. (I've had 4 chest infections since September) Yesterday I had an ultrasound on my neck and it would seem that I have several nodules in my left thyroid. I've been told that I will probably need a needle biopsy but I'm waiting to hear.
Please could you advise on this as I had a thyroid test done in December and it was negative.
I'm worried in case it is cancer. My GP has prescribed diazepam to help relax my neck and shoulders as I have a lot of pain as well as the soreness on the inside. I'm a 44 year old female.

Thanks to anyone who might shed some light!

Thanks for that I will definitely ask about those tests tomorrow when I go. Unfortunately the Dr who did the scan told me very little about the size of the nodules other than there is one big and some small! She is writing a report to my consultant who I'm also seeing tomorrow.
I guess they may have been there a while despite normal bloods previously although I'm suspecting they would have shown on a MRI scan I had down a few years back for a spine problem. (Can't actually remember when that was but could be more than 5 years ago)

Sorry, I meant FreeT4 and Free T3.
Also, did he tell you the size of the nodules?

Make sure when you're at your GP's you ask for not only the TSH, FreeT4 and FreeT4 but also antibody panel which might help shed more light on the growth of those nodules.  It would rule in/out Hashimoto's.  Post them here and you will get some response on the numbers.

Did you know you can have "normal" bloodwork and still have growth of the nodules for years before the actual disease shows up?  Thats why the antibody test is so important.

Thanks for your post. I'm seeing my consultant on Wednesday so will know more than. Have also arranged to have my bloods done again on Wednesday at my GP's. I didn't realise they could grow that quickly.

From what I've read 5-10% of nodules are malignant. One nodule is more suspicious than multi-nodules.

I was at my doctor's for a checkup last September and she didn't find any nodules on  my thyroid...I went back to her in January of this year and poof - a 2 cm nodule pops up....I know it's scary....but you're in the right place...everyone on here is very knowledgeable and helpful....

I'm sure someone will want you to post your bloodwork results and your ultrasound results.
