OT: Still alive and coughing!
Well, was over a week ago I came down with the sinus infection and a week ago today it turned into pneumonia. And I'm STILL sick as the preverbial dog! Went on 1000mg/day Ceftin last Wednesday. Then spent all night Thursday night in the ER hooked up to an IV getting 3 different antibiotics pumped into me along with large dose of steroids. At the time my right bronchial tube was completely full as was my right middle lobe.
Oh, did I mention I ended up there b/c my hands and feet turned purple? Was sitting in a dark living room watching TV and decided to get in a hot shower to try and break up the cr@p in my chest. Well, when I got in and looked down there they were. My blue hands and feet. Finished taking my shower and then had my dh drive me the hour to the ER. Had to take our little boy with us b/s no one was around to take care of him. So he missed another day of school b/c we were gone all night.
Any body else having troule with the cursor going nuts on them? Hard to type, it doesn't want to take.
Anyway, have only ventured as far as the garden, once, and vowed to not do that again until I can breath normally. But am sooooo weak am having trouble typing this. Am actually working up a sweat. Have coughed so much my stomach feels like I have done at least a million crunches, but of course, stomach is still fat!!! Seems to finally be letting up in my chest, but now infection is setting up in my right jaw and all the lymph nodes in my neck and jaw. Seems familiar, just other side. So will be calling dr back again tomorrow about what to do now. Am still on Ceftin.
Have taken 1,000mg/day Ceftin for 7 days. Took a 3-pack of Zithromax 500mg. Took large IV dose of Levoquin and 2 other antibiotics. Have taken too many pain pills of various kinds to count and am also on Tussionex, cough syrup plus hydrocodone every 8 hours. Understand why I have this horrible yeast infection, but have NO IDEA why I still ave all these other infections!! Figure I should have probably been in the hospital all this time, but with a little one at home and nobody to take care of him impossible.
Will try to keep you updated, but basically all I can do is cough now and shake, I am so weak. Hasn't helped that in all this am sooo nauseated that I have barely eaten. Oh, forgot to mention my husband and son both have bad sinus infections also. Our hous doesn't sound like a healthy one.
Hope every one else is doing better than I am.

Still haven't tried the neti pot. Wish I could use it to wash out my jaw and lymph nodes down there! They still hurt really bad. Hard to sleep, b/c of course that's the side I sleep on.
My little family's pretty blah today. Dh and I slept most of the day while the boy did pretty much whatever he wanted to. You know, eat, watch TV, eat, and eat. He got to do that last night, too, as dh and I fell asleep in the recliners then, also. Sensing a pattern here? Had to go down to my aunt's tonight to get a couple of old pieces of junky furniture for storage so had to get up and moving. Then of course to put them into place had to clean where they were going. so ended up doing some house work. The majority of the house no longer looks like a missile test sight. Ktchen and dining room to go, though. Am also trying to gather things up for a yard sale. YUCK! If I didn't need the money I'd donate it all.

I hope you're starting to come out of the woods now with this nasty bug!! I was at the doc for mine a few weeks back, and she anticipates a nasty year with illness due to it starting so early. Yippee. I'm taking my vitamins every day, but probably should be pumping more vitamin C! I certainly don't want a repeat.
Your comment about your son was cracking me up. Aren't they just lovely? "Hey guys....come on over and watch mom puff and gag!!". They do keep our lives interesting, that's for sure.

You know. . .I bought a neti pot and have never even gotten it out of the box. forgot all about it. Thanks for the reminder.
so sorry you're so sick w/ the ick - love the skeleton head!!! Here's my favorite cure - the neti pot w/ saline solution - they sell the pot w/ the saline premeasured in packets or use your own saline/water recipe from doctor or off internet - best thing in the world for sinus infections, colds, allergies etc and safe for everyone kids too - my 6 year old wont do it but my 9 year old loves it - anyway they sell these @ any chain drug store - safe for thyroid folks too - hope you feel better soon!

The chicken soup from my Chicken Angels sounds good!!!! Have been taking my acidophillis faithfully! So the side affects from the antibiotics for us women aren't as bad as they could be. ;( But they are bad enough!
Quit taking the antibiotics today, and hate, hate, hate the inhaler, didn't mention that earlier, but it is making my breathing easier. No asthma, just using it until my bronchial tubes heal. Not as much hacking and wheezing today. Praise the Lord! It's Pulmicort powder. =(~~ that's me gagging =(~~ I make the awfulest noise getting those 2 puffs in! Then fight not to puke! My son thinks it's hilarious and invites everyone over to watch. As long as it helps I guess I'll keep using it. Would love a liquid one, but can't take albuterol.
Am feeling better tonight so hopefully am on the road to recovery. Don't get how the steroid shots are not taking care of the pain ALREADY! but I still have the moon face and pregnant belly! I'm a sight now.

my goodness....I knew you were not well...but did not realize you were quite so ill...I am so sorry! I sure hope some of those meds kick in! chicken soup email? wonder if that would work....hmmmm....
So sorry to hear your spitting & sputtering, hope you get well soon. I also wanted to add the all those antibiotics are killing the good flors( bacteria) your body needs and it could hinder any healing process- probiotics of some sort would be helpful 1 cup of yogurt or even acidophilis tabs.

Well, another day, another dr. Went back yesterday to walk-in clinic and he thinks it is TOO many antibiotics and they are warring against each other and causing all the lymphnode trouble. Thinks they have temporarily destroyed my immune system and it's trying to cope. Guess only time will tell.
Gave me ANOTHER shot of steroids!!! The huge one they gave me in the ER has had me so swollen can't hardly function, not another one yesterday! BLUCK!!!! How come they don't give me energy like they do my dh? Wish I knew.
Anyway am still on lots of rest and liquids. Doing my best. Am so tired can't do much more, and boy does my house and yard look like it! Think I need to demolish and start from scratch!

Boy, once you get them they just REFUSE to leave! Wish there was something else I could do to help myself out here. Been trying to air out the house as often as possible. My little boy said the other night that he thinks it is our house that is making me sick, and we just need to call Extreme Make Over for a new house! Wishful thinking on his part, little stinker! He wants a new house so bad he can't stand it. Thinks our house isn't "real" b/c it's a trailer house. Brat.
Could use some home made chicken soup, but my mom is the one who makes it for me and she's been gone since last week. Ready for my mommy to come home and take care of me! lol

Wow -- I am so sorry you're so miserable! Sure hope those antibiotics help soon -- you poor gal, you must be so tired of feeling horrible. I'm in Michigan, and the nasty cold virus going around here is bad too. I've had the cruddy sounding cough now for over 3 weeks -- the body aches, fever, sore throat are gone, but this nasty cough I just can't get rid of. Turned into bronchitis (if I remember right) on Lori (kipland) -- we live in the same general area. --- Reading your post made me realize that I should thank my lucky stars that all I have is the cough left, no more whining on my part! I sure hope this is all over with soon for you (and the sinus infections for your husband and son).

Wow!!! You've been having all sorts of fun these past few weeks, haven't you? You poor thing! This "bug" that's going around is just plain nasty. It's like the energizer bunny......it keeps going, and going, and going! Mine was 3 weeks on Monday, and it's still hanging on. That was with an antibiotic too!
