It's mostly those of us over 50 that have to be the most careful about starting at high doses of thyroid hormones. It's, often, assumed (not always correctly) that younger people can start out at a full, therapeutic dose and be okay. The problem with that is that, often, the therapeutic dose turns out to be less than the prescribed amount.
You're probably okay, unless you begin to have symptoms of over medication, such as sudden weight loss, diarrhea, tremors, rapid heart rate, heart palpitations, etc... but do keep in mind that some of those symptoms (rapid heart rate, heart palps) can also apply to hypothyroidism, as well. If you begin to have symptoms of over medication, contact your doctor as soon as possible.
100 mcg of T4 medication is a VERY large starting dose. Many people would not be able to tollerate going from zero to 10 mcg. Other people can however.
In your profile you stated that you are also have interest in pregnancy.
It is very important for a baby in the womb to have a mother who has proper thyroid levels. So if you are already not pregnant, it may make sense to hold off until you have a stable and reasonable thyroid levels. If you are already pregnant, then it makes all the more sense to actively work to get your thyroid levels balanced.
By the way you describe your Dr as being rude and not seeming to care, then giving you a HUGE starter dose that is about 2 to 4 times what is commony used as a starting dose.
I would urge you to start looking for another Dr who does listen to you and care what you have to say and how you feel.
As stated above please post all your blood lab results along with the reference ranges. If you do not have the lab report, by law in the USA, if you ask your Dr for the results, they are required to give you a copy!
Do you have your actual thyroid hormone levels to post for us so we can better assess your situation? Please be sure to include the reference ranges as well, since those vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own report...
It takes 4 - 6 weeks for the medication to reach full potential in your blood and it's not unusual for symptoms to worsen or for new ones to appear as your body adjusts to having the hormones it's been doing without...
