Since prior diagnosis for Hashi's, have you been on thyroid meds? If so, what brand and dosage? Also, if you look through this listing of hypo symptoms, what symptoms do you have other than difficulty swallowing?
I go on the 20th to the endocrinologist, I usually just see my Dr. but he referred me to him along with my results. Not sure what they will do on that visit but some people I have talked to said they may do a biopsy..Kinda worried not sure what to expect. But I can't wait to feel better
Since you have had Hashi's for a while and you have the symptoms you mentioned, why wait until next time you go. The doctor is required by law to provide you a copy of your lab reports upon your request. The sooner you can get a copy and post results and reference ranges shown on the lab report, the sooner you could be on your way to feeling much better.
I can't understand why you had Hashimoto's that long and your MD never ordered an Ultra sound until now, I had an ultra sound the day I was diagnosed with Hashi's, maybe he just did not feel any nodules in your first exam, but I would think that would be one of the first tests he would do, I would ask for the results of all blood work and keep a copy of each, this way you can keep track of your condition and post here for any questions. Good Luck and welcome to the forum. FTB4
I have hashimotos disease, had it for about 10 years now. This is the first time an ultrasound was done because I was having problems swallowing..Thank you, but my Dr. never gives me my bloodwork results for some reason...i'm going to have to ask next time I go..Thanks again
It gives the dimensions (size) of the lobes on your thyroid and a description of any nodules present, nodules are not an indication of cancer. you may have a thyroid imbalance, and that is why he ordered an Ultra sound. Have you had any TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 tests done (Bloodwork) If so, Post them with reference ranges for each. then members can tell you more about your thyroid. see response to your other post.
