Rant! Rant! Rant!

I have had it with my thyroid!

I want it ripped out, and stomped on!!!

Well, maybe not RIPPED out. Carefully carved out and then shaken and squeezed REAL hard. And then maybe stab it a few dozen times. :)

I had perfect health till I turned 50, then BAM! I've seen more doctors in the last two years than all the other years put together. And every time I see a new doctor, I go home with a new problem.

Heart doesn't work right.
stomach problems.
Colon problems.
Small intestine? Haven't been there yet, but there is a problem.
I think my gall bladder is next.
Starting to develop carpel tunnel in both wrists, for no good reason.
Depression.
Depression.
Did I mention depression?
Anxiety.
Cyst on my adrenal gland.
Hair thinning AND receding.
Vision is changing constantly.
Can't think straight half the time.

Now, that last one? Something to remember when you see me giving you advice. Know what I mean? ;)

My new Endo thinks I'm a pain in the butt because I don't fit in her mold. She's sending me to a surgeon just so I can be someone else's problem for a while.

I'm sick of taking pills and vitamins all the time. I'm sick of being sick. I think some of the meds are probably making things worse. The doctors know about as much concerning the Thyroid as I do. Which isn't enough.

Now I'm learning about ulcers. Guess what. The doctors are still learning about ulcers too. Don't these guys ever do anything except practice??

I can't work.
I can't play.
I can't sit down with three other people and converse because it is too confusing and tiring to try to keep up with the conversation.

I'm going broke, as in "no money", and my wife is coming with me.

There's more to rant about, but I get distracted easily...

My wife must be going through Hell.

Well, I feel better.
NOT!

I enjoyed your "project" .. maybe that will be a great topic one day for me to do at college as a person who by then will be 49yrs old and holding there "forever" LOL!

"Jo Ba:  Update on myy daughter -- she is doing ok these days after dropping 30lbs total weight from that nast virus she had last summer ... they ended up doing all sorts of bloodwork and ruled out anything mj inc. pancreatic enzymes, ultrasound, mono, etc. bcz she had another flare a few weeks ago.  The bottom line is that they think she has a small ulceration and now is on Prevacid with great relief...they think it came from severe gastritis and is taking a long time to heal.)

I to am completely frustrated with my doctor.  The good news came Wednesday night.  The nodules were begnin!!!!!  The frustration begins because doctor does not want to  treat my symptoms nor run a Free T3 test or address elevated cortisol levels.  Vit. D was low-take 800 mg daily and have another blood test in 2 months was his reply.  Another round of TSH and FT4 in 6 months and and Ultrasound to access nodules.  This I can understand.  My TSH bounce for 3.5 to 4.1, my FT4 bounces from .9 to 1.0(.61- 1.76 normal range).  I have fatigue-not dead to the world but it does interfer with my life, dry hair and skin, constipation, swollen tongue, water retention, brittle nails.  My neck is swollen and my Thyroid dimensions seem to be bigger then anyone elses I have seen listed.  I also have tingling  hands feet and face.  Calcium, PTH, Vit B all look good.  Most if not all of the standard blood work done for physicals makes me look very healty-then why to I feel like **** most of the time?  I guess I will be looking for another DR soon.

Umm. I don't think this will help any, but one of the things that I work on is unexplained death and the age range for our case enrolment is 1 yr to 49 yrs. I asked someone why the cutoff was 49 years, and he said "because after age 50 the death is no longer unexplained". Yikes! Interestingly, the original cutoff was 39 years but has increased according to the age of the principal investigator. Go figure.

So, I envision that I will some day drop dead on the street and they will just step over me and kick the body into the gutter mumbling "She was over 50, poor thing."

Thanks for the outlet and for the support you all give.

I know it sounds petty to whine like this. There are people in much worse condition than I. I am just extremely irritated that my thyroid condition is slowly tearing my body up.

Hey, there is a poster by the name of JR62 that needs some info on RAI. Could someone who has been there respond to him?

Thanks, and thanks.

Best to all.

My issues started at age 46 ... I can add to your list kidney stoness, gallstones, Melanoma and an ankle tendon problem that is very severe and now I am having a custom made brace being made for $2,0000 to be able to walk (hopefully pain free) like a human being again.  The other option is total reconstructive surgery /o guarantee it will work.

As down as I get and as icky I feel on any given day I look at my Cancer diagnoses and consider myself lucky that I had only a brush with them and will be ok .. I try to look @ the alternatives closely and that helps me cope better and also this board is al lifesaver.

I am almost a yr overdue for my colonoscopy . .they found atypical polyp 2.5 yrs ago so I am supposed to go again but keep putting it off bcz I had a kidney stone attack after the last one from stress and dehydration and happened after thyroid surgery too .. passed a big one 12 days post op .. so that is my hangup for the day, month, near future.

I feel really bad for you ..... I hope things turn around soon for you .. it can be overwhelming coping with all you are going thru when you don't feel okay .. I know .. BTDT .. and, to some degree still doing it as I live in chronic tibial tendonitis pain that meds only take the edge off .. when one thing is askew, it all goes wacko.

Tell your wife she can write to me anytime thru the Inbox ... if she ever needs to hear from another thyroid patient with chronic issues, I'm here for her ..you are lucky to have her ...

But you know what? You still have a great sense of humor. I can't imagine how fun you'd be if you actually felt good!!

Did you already investigate disability (SS)? Something in the back of my head is ringing a bell, but it's a dim ring... :-)

So far, the only thyroid meds I have tried are Synthroid, and Methimazole.

If you made a graph of my TSH levels over the last two years, it would look like something from the stock market. Up and down with lots of spikes going both ways.

The highest it's been is 120.2. The lowest it's been is 0.072. It's been normal a dozen times, for a day or three. Up and down and up and down.

I have Hashimoto's Toxicosis, and meds are just not cutting it. That, and I've started and stopped Synthroid so many times I've lost count.

I've been hyper and hypo so many times I lost track of which symptoms are for which condition. It doesn't matter, because my body changes so much I have symptoms of both conditions most of the time.

I just want the offending organ cut out before it destroys another organ or two, or gives me cancer.

Ditto!  At the beginning, 22 years ago, my doctor said that it was the best kind of disease to have, if you had to have one.  I am starting to disagree.

Have you tried different meds....synthetic vs. natural?

Yep, just rant all you want. :)   I get to where all I want to do is cry sometimes.  My hubby gets grumpy and quiet when he gets worried about me so I don't really like to bother him with how I feel.  No better people to rant to or talk to than those who live everyday just as you do.  (((HUGS)))
