Sex drive gone

I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroid.  I used to have a very high sex drive but the last 2 years it has been non existent. Will it come back once my meds get going?

Sorry - your profile says "male", which would make testosterone a much bigger issue than it is with women, though we, too need it.

I hadn't seen your other post.  Sometimes it's best to keep all your questions together, so we don't keep asking for the same information. I'll go find the other thread and take a look.

I am female too...I actually posted my results in another post yesterday titled "help with my test results".  My doctor tested my FSH to see if I was perimenopause...I will ask my endo on Monday about the testosterone test. I have been on 50 mcg of snythroid for 5 weeks.  Just diagnosed.

While hypothyroidism does tend to diminish sex drive, you should also get your reproductive hormones tested.  Low testosterone levels seem to be quite common with hypo, and can also cause libido issues.

What thyroid replacement med are you on?  How long have you been on it? What dose are you on?

Do you have a copy of your current blood test results?  It might be helpful if you can post them here, along with the reference ranges, which vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.

I am female but can relate to your question.  The thyroid gland controls so many things in the body that it is hard to make an intelligent answer for you.  I know for myself that once the issues of hypothyroidism were addressed by my doctor including the correct dosage of medication, that I was back to normal in a short time.

Good luck to you and I do hope you find continued good health like
you used to enjoy
