TPO

My tsh went from 26.780 and free t4 0.57 in Aug. to tsh 8.297 and free T4 1.00 in Jan. But what does the addition of the test TPO Ab with a reading of 1027.8 indicate?  I take a natural thyroid product called thymate x 4 yrs. and get tested every 6 mths.  This had been the most extreme difference in my tests results.  What does it indicate to you?  I feel great, have an active lifestyle and exercise x 4 each week.  I am 49 yrs. old and take HRT x 4 yrs.  but still have reg. cycles.  My estrogen results 4 yrs. ago indicate I am producing 0 estrogen.

chigirl29,

No offense, but you are the only person I have ever run across that has let their thyroid die "naturally". I've been reading like a fiend for two years, and you are the only one I have come across.

Could you start a thread and explain that?

I think for most people letting their thyroid die naturally would take years and years, and that person would be VERY sick for a very long time.

I waited until my antibodies killed the gland naturally and then began hormone treatment.  If you feel fine, I would just keep doing what you are doing.  I wouldn't artificially wipe it out.
Make sure you get regular tests done--especially if there are times when you begin to feel bad.

I am glad you feel great!  The TPO Ab of 1027.8 might indicate that you have Hashimoto's disease.  This is where your natural antibodies attack the thyroid and eventually kill it.  According to your Aug. TSH reading of 8.297 would indicate that you have a low thyroid, or hypothyroidism.  I would get back to the doctor and do another blood test including TSH and antibodies before you start to feel bad.  They may need to increase you thyriod medication to bring down your TSH level to normal range (.3 to 3.0).  I am surprised they did not do  that in Aug.
