Hyoechoic Nodularity and MN Goitre

I recently had an US done to monitor MN goitre.  The test results indicated that the thyroid itself is no longer enlarged but that there is a dominat nodule and some areas of hypoechoic nodularity.  I was advised to have a needle biopsy.  The doctor perfroming the biospy took tissue and cell samples.Everything that I have been reading indicates that "hypoechic" is one of the markers for cancer of thyroid/nodules.  I am wondering if this is always true or if there has to be other issues as well that would indicate this to be the case.  The nodule in question is 1.7 X 1.1 as opposed to 1.4 and 1 last year-the final measurement remained the same.  Very concerned and very worried about the results of the biopsy-the waiting is killing me! Any advice or better explanation of the terminology would really be very helpful.  All thyroid blood work is within normal levels.

No, this does not mean for nodule to have cancer.
