Thyroid Nodules

In continuing with thryoid check-ups the following was found.  In Dec. the nodules were 20.5x13.6.11.7, in May they were 25x13x19 with a benign diagnosis which is good.  However, does one keep having biopsies every six months until something suspicious shows up or is there a point when they become a certain size they should be removed?
Thank you

I am thinking they can continue to grow and cause breathing difficulty if they so-position themselves as they grow near the windpipe.  But, I'm not a doctor so not really sure ..

I don't know that you have to continue having biopsies; you should be okay with 6 month ultra sounds, which will show whether or not the physical characteristics of the nodule(s) are changing. If the nodules aren't changing/growing to a point where they cause you distress, chances are you will not have to have anything done with them.

If, at any time, they cause you difficulty breathing, swallowing, or any other distress, you should be sure to see your doctor.

Do you know if you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis?  Nodules are very common with Hashi's and most are nothing to worry about.  I've had a multi-nodular goiter for some years and no problems.

Are you currently on a thyroid replacement medication?  If so, which one, what dose and for how long.  Do you have symptoms of hypothyroidism? If so, which ones?
