Thyroid Pain

Hello All! I am taking all of the necessary tests now to be a candidate for a total thyroidectomy. All nodules are benign. Is it normal to feel pain with an enlarged thyroid? I always have this full feeling in my throat and it's very tender. Eating sometimes is a challenge. Sleeping is a nightmare! I can not get comfortable enough to sleep well. And if i talk for long periods at a time it hurts. I have one more scan to take before my head and neck surgeon gives his opinion. Any responses are appreciated.

I had a toxic goiter as well. However, I never had pain, just a huge neck...

Some people have issues swallowing, but I did not.
