Thyroid function

Hi
I have recently undertaken a Hair Mineral analysis which resulted in  imbalances  in my minerals such  as  Adrenal  insufficiency and  Thyroid  insufficiency  The  mineral  levels  in  this  result  suggest  that  I am  currently  experiencing  low  HCl (stomach acid)  and Blood Glucose  Imbalance.

I have subsequently carried out a blood test and the levels of T3 T4 and TSH found are within the normal range.  To be exact:

FT3:  4.4 (Range 2.8 - 7.1)
FT4:  17.9 (Range 12.0 - 22)
TSH: 1.8 (Range .27 - 4.2)
FSH: 8.1 (Range 3.5 - 12.5)

The following were highlighted as high
Fasting glucose: 5.97 (Range 3.89 - 5.83)
Gamma Gt: 41 (Range 5 - 36)
Triglycerides: 4.6 (Normal <4.4)

I am confused by these results and would appreciate if you could help shed some light in this respect.

thank you

Dorothy

I take centrum, 1000 mg Vitamin C and 1000 mg fibre, 1000 mg of Omega3-6-9.  Most of these tablets I started taking last week, except for Fibre and Vitamin C which I started over 3 months ago.

For not being on thyroid medication, your thyroid levels actually look pretty good and I have to wonder is a lot of your symptoms could be coming from the high levels of minerals in body.

What multi-vitamin do you take and how  many/day?

No medication yet - most doctors to date have discarded my concern that there is something more serious and put the issue down to my age (40) and possibly lack of proper nutrition.  My concern was latergy, constipation, headaches, dry hair, chipping nails, and weight gain,  As such,  I decided to go to a nutritionist, to make sure I am taking the right food stuffs.  Following a 2 month detox session, I still did not lose weight - and nutritionist recommended a Hair Mineral Analysis.  I also did a blood test and now booked to see an Entomologist.  May main concern is that I have a history of heart disease and cancer - so I wanted to ensure I did not take any risks.
Only medication / tablets are in the form of supplement multi-vitamins, vitamin C, Fibre and Omega 3 - 6 - 9.
thks

Are you currently on a thyroid replacement hormone? If so, what medication and what dosage?  For how long have you been on this medication?

Thank you for your response.

The analysis showed that I had a very High Tissue Calcium (Ca), very High Magnesium (Mg) and very High Copper (Cu).  My germanium level of 0.003 mg% is below the established reference range and barium level of 0.43 mg% is above the established reference range and so is the strontium level.

In addition, the test resulted in a very Elevated Calcium to Potassium (Ca:K) Ratio and Low Sodium to Magnesium (Na:Mg) Ratio.

The cholestoral results - HDL 1.01 No risk >1.68 and LDL 2.92 No Risk < 3.37,

I have an appointment with a Thyroid specialist on the 18th October and would like to be prepared to ensure I am given adequate treatment,.  My weight has been flactuating, and i've increased about 10kg in 1 year - yet I am very careful with food I eat - mainly avoid preservatives and follow a healthy diet and daily walking with the dogs.

Thks
Dorothy

Did this analysis show high hard minerals found? Those should have been tested in the analysis too and could unlock this for you.

Based off blood labs for thyroid possibly tweeking that FT3 up just a tad higher could be helpful to discuss with your doc.

Your Truglycerides should have been ran in a group of cholestrol lab.  HDL-LDL tests when a thyroid lab isn't quite perfect BOTH will be a tad higher LDL/HDL (good and bad cholestrol) and shouldn't be too concerning.

In thyroid treatment the better the labs get and the patient's response to treatment the more even keel cholestrol and Glucose will get too.
