Thyroid problem or something else?

I have pain on both sides of my neck, and feel like they may be swollen. Also I think the area by thoat has gotten larger. Seems like they are connected somehow. Can anyone give me suggestions on what is causing that? Thanks

Does it feel like you are wearing a necktie too tight?  Push into your trachea, does it appear to be tender and sore?

You could be experiencing pain and swelling in your thyroid, which is called "goiter".  It's just an inflammation of the thyroid.  The thyroid is a little, butterfly shaped gland, just below the Adam's apple.  It consists of two lobes, one on either side of the throat and an isthmus that connects the two in the middle.

Thyroiditis is inflammation of the thyroid, but there are several kinds of thyroiditis.  Some are temporary, and some are permanent.  Do you have any thyroid symptoms?  You can google "hypothyroid symptoms" and "hyperthyroid symptoms" to see if either seem to fit.

Have you seen your doctor about the pain and swelling?
