I have both Graves and TED. The endocrinologist is treating me with Methimazole and Propanalol. 10 mg each daily. He wants me off Methimazole soon and do RAI. Since Methimazole can cause agranulocytosis it is a concern to him. I am on a 10 mg of each daily. However, the only blood tests he will order is TSH and free T4. My ophthalmologist ordered a 10 week regimen of steriod infusions for TED, but it didnt help my proptosis or double vision. I convinced my GP to order more comprehensive test. WBC is elevated, 14.6 and Neutrophils (absolute), 12.1. TSH ok at .956 and Free T4 at 1.26. Free T3, 2.0, thyroglobulin antibody is <1.0. With elevated white count, does anyone know if this should be concerning regarding agranulocytosis? Has anyone else experienced a concern about this disease. How prevalent is it.
