I also have had experience with GERD/acid reflux. Apparently I had suffered with it for some time because a doctor diagnosed Barrett's Esophagus and put me on 2 pills of Prilosec daily. Sometime later I learned why I was still having lingering hypo symptoms on 200 mcg of T4 med. It was due to low Free T3. My med was changed to an NDT type and after some tweaking of dosage I felt better than I could even remember. Some time later when Armour was taken off the market for about a year, I was forced to switch back to T4 med. I ended up with my hypo symptoms again, including terrible acid reflux. When Armour was available again, I switched back and my acid reflux was gone in 3 days, as I remember, as a result of the T3 in the med. I was confident that my acid reflux was gone, so I eliminated one of the Prilosec, with no problem. I then stopped altogether and still was doing okay until my doctor insisted that I at least stay on one Prilosec, due to concerns about the Barrett's.
So all that made me wonder what your thyroid related test results look like. Could you please post your recent test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report? Also, do you have any other symptoms?
I have the tightness in my throat, it also seems like it goes into my sinuses and face. I do have GERD and some of those other symptoms but they did a thyroid test and said it was fine..maybe I should be getting another one done.
I would be going to the Doc and asking for a thyroid panel to be done.
Let us know how you go and good luck :o)
I have similar feelings - I dont like anything near my neck since this all started.
I have had the feeling of 'someone having their hands around my throat" and it was a thyroid issue.
I also felt uncomfortable wearing a gold chain around my neck or wearing jumpers with a roll neck or anything covering my neck.
After treatment, I no longer have that problem.
I havent had any workups done. I have been afraid to call my doctor because I didnt know how to explain how I have been feeling. I will call on Monday for sure. I have had bouts of fatigue, depression, anxiety, brain fog, Hard to say about the chest pain and heart rate as I am recovering from heart surgery.
Yes, it can be thyroid related. Get a thryoid ultrasound. Also, do you have any labwork? FT3, FT4, TPOab, TGab, TSI?
Any thyroid-related health concerns? Fatigue, depression, anxiety, chest pain, rapid heart rate, constipation, GERD, heartburn, low vitamins, muscle cramping, leg pain, foot pain, eye and ear pain or ear ringing, brain fog, dry skin, hair loss, sleep loss...
