Ultrasound results

Right now I am addressing Hashimoto's and asked my dr. for an ultrasound of my thyroid.  It came back with a single
solid nodule on rt mid gland of 26x9x18mm with possible punctate focus of calcification. My dr. is out of town and I have no clue to what this means but the calcification is making me worried.  Thanks for you help.

The lymph ones are visually tested during ultrasound; their condition has to be recorded in thyroid ultrasound report, however not many imaging labs doing that.it is a good practice to redo the ultrasound prior to biopsy especially if nodule is not palpable or visible (out of tune ultrasound machine can produce "artifacts" that can be mis-interpreted as nodules, although this is unfortunately not very common)

Thanks so much for the quick response! I believe the test is the FNA...is that how they will also test the lymph nodes too? I know my GP cannot do this so  would you go an ENT or an Endo? Thanks..I appreciate the info so I don't have to wonder what the heck to do next.

Single calcified speck in the nodule (macro-calcification) is normally not associated with increased risk of cancer compared so called micro calcification. Due to its size the nodule has to be evaluated by biopsy.
If your lymph nodes are normal the chance of cancer is about 10%
