From numerous UK members, we are well aware of how difficult it can be in the UK, to get the right tests done and then to get properly medicated.  I just wanted to pass on to you this bit of info from a fellow UK member.

"What I have learned from my experience is that you have to go to the Dr's office and TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT and to go backed up with knowledge.  You have to tell them that you have done your reading and looked into your condition and care about the long-term treatment of your health and thyroid.  If you fight for what you want, you will eventually find someone that is happy to go along with your wishes.  But we all have to take charge of our own health, right?"

A good thyroid doctor will treat a patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T3 and Free T4 as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.  This is a link to a letter written by a good thyroid doctor for patients that he consults with from a distance.  The letter is sent to the PCP of the patient to help guide treatment.

Perhaps a copy of this letter given to your doctor could help get the testing and treatment you need.  I am also sending you a PM with another link to some great info.  Copies of some of those articles might also have a good influence on your doctor.

Sounds like you are still a bit hypo. What are the ref. ranges for your Free ThyroxineT4? Can you get them to test your Free T3?  If free T3 is low, you could still be having hypo symptoms with low TSH.  I didn't feel good until my FT3 was in the upper range and FT4 in the mid range.  My TSH shows I'm hyper now, below range. But I'm not having any hyper symptoms.  Your dose( 50mcg to 25mcg  of levothyroxine) is pretty low after RAI.  I would push for them to test FT3, as my dr wouldn't test it until I really pushed!
