What does all this mean?

Some lab results:  T4 Free 1.2, TSH 7.97, Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 756, Thyroglobin Antibody under 20

Thyroid Ultrasound- Rt. lobe measures 3.8 cm x 1.3 x 1.6 and the lt. measures 3.4 cm x 0.8 cm x 1.8.  There are

several tiny nodules present bilaterally but overall there is inhomogeneous echo pattern in the thyroid suggestive of

thyroiditis.  It is difficult for me to get proper medical care and at this point I am confused and would appreciate input.

I am fatigued, have put on weight, am cold, and when I feel the front of my throat, (I don't know whether it is my

thyroid or not), but something that protrudes goes almost from one side of my neck to the other side.

My sister has hoshimoto's and my mother and a number of aunts have thyroid problems.

Please continue to pursue your problem.  Your TSH is high, and so is your TPOab.  the two suggest that you probably also have Hashi's.  I had it, my dad, two brothers had it.  I have two sisters, one has the same cancer as I have, my other is being tested (I have 8 siblings, 5 of us have thyroid issues SO FAR).  There is a family connection.  The fact that the nodules are very small is a good thing, the nodules have to be over 1 cm to be tested for cancer.  It looks like they did not see anything of huge concern, but you are low on hormone.   Luckily, time is on your side.  I don't know what your medical coverage is right now, but if you can you should see an endocrinologist to get your TSH down, it is probably causing your cold/weight symptoms.  Is your hair falling out?  Do your joints hurt?  Is your skin dry?  Lips peeling?  Your TSH should be between 1 and 4, more like 3 to 3.5.  I note you are 62, soon you will be elligible for Medicare, correct?  If you can afford it, see an Endo...it will be worth the money to get you on some form of synthroid and get your TSH at a more normal level.
