eltroxin side effects

Dear Dr, I am female, 32 years old, 17th week of pregnancy. Before pregnancy I didn't use eltroxine .Passed a test on the 13th week - TSH was 5.64 and on te 14th week -TSH was 4.5 and on 17th week is 4.1. My doctor  prescribe me to use eltroxin 0.05 mg daily. First,I wonder this is not problem that I didn't used it before and I have bein medication newly for nervous system growing of baby ? Second, After 2 days of eltroxin using i have hear beat faster and flushing!what it does mean? I have to quit or continue?!

I just looked up eltroxine. It is a T4 thryoid medication. If they put you on to much T4 is can cause heart palpitations so I would defnetely call your doctor and see if he wants to reduce your dose.

Is eltroxine T3? I would certainly call your doctor and ask his opinion especially since you are pregnant.  I know a lot of the thyroid medications can cause a fast hear beat if it is to high of a dose.
