benign thyroid nodule

I have multiple benign nodules on one side of my thyroid (biopsied),  My thyroid function is currently normal.  What do you usually recommend to your patients in regard to use of soy products in the diet?  Are there other foods that I should avoid?  My third question is in regard to a product called fulvic acid...I read an article which suggested that routine use may have benefit for people with benign thyroid nodules.  Do you know if there is any truth to this claim?  Thank you.

Hi lexie2010, According to studies I have read about Soy, Soy will potentially enlarge a thyroid to some degree, even in a "normal" person.  My personal experience with Soy, has been bad enough that I avoid it at all costs. I felt sick for months drinking Soy milk because I thought it was "healthy" , I had no idea that was causing my Toxic Multinodular Goiter to get worse ( I did not know what I had at the time)  I have 6 benign nodules and they have shrunk quite a bit since I have drastically changed my diet. My thyroid numbers are now normal and I expect when I have my next Ultrasound in July that at least some of the nodules will have been reabsorbed into my thyroid.

Other foods I have avoided are goitrous vegetables (uncooked) like Broccoli and Cauliflower. Google "goitrous vegetables" and that will give you an idea of what else to avoid.

I avoid all fast food and all processed foods that this has made a huge impact on improving not only my thyroid heath but my over all health, lowered my bad cholesterol etc.

As for fulvic acid I have not used it so I can't speak to that one.
